Meet Our Walk-In Care Providers
Sometimes things don’t go as planned. Kids get sick right before the bus comes. Nobody told you the knife was sharp. You could have sworn there was one more step on those stairs. You don’t need an emergency room — you just need someone to look at that bug bite. Should it really get that big after a few hours?
That’s why Hammond-Henry Hospital offers six walk-in care clinics. Your wait will be much shorter, and your bill will be much lower than the emergency room. Our providers have the experience and know-how to give you the care you need.
All our urgent or walk-in care clinics have a medical provider on-site to examine you and provide the support and consultation to the rest of the staff to make the right decisions for your health. Stop in when you can’t make it into your regular doctor and need medical care. We provide records to area providers as requested to keep them informed and provide the right follow-up when needed.
Who can visit one of our Walk-In Clinics?
All patients are welcome regardless of your primary care provider. Please contact your insurance company to confirm.
How do I know if I should visit the ER or a Walk-In Clinic?
It’s easy to be unsure of where to go when you or someone you care about is sick or hurt. A good way to gauge this decision is if the problem is something you could go to a regular provider for treatment, then a Hammond-Henry Walk-In Care Clinic is an appropriate choice if your provider is unavailable. But if you are having chest or abdominal pain, stroke symptoms, or trouble breathing call 9-1-1 or have someone drive you to the Emergency Department. NEVER drive yourself!
What can I expect at a Hammond-Henry Hospital Walk-In Clinic?
When you visit one of our walk-in clinics, we know that you might not be feeling your best. That is why our reception staff is always waiting to welcome you in a friendly, professional manner. Our smooth and efficient check-in process allows us to focus on the details so you can focus on feeling better. A simple registration form requests your information and we are happy to help you complete should you need assistance.
The next step is triage. One of our staff will take your vital signs and ask questions about your overall health history and your reason for the visit. These important steps provide a baseline of important information that will assist our providers in diagnosing your ailment and providing the best treatment options.
Once triage is complete, you will be cared for by one of our compassionate, experienced medical providers. The provider may ask additional questions about your health or ailment, and will thoroughly examine you to determine the proper diagnosis. During this step, additional tests or services may be performed as necessary, including x-rays (not available in Cambridge), blood tests and EKGs. Our staff will explain what they are doing along the way and encourage you to ask questions you may have about these tests.
After you have been diagnosed, our staff will provide you with a clear explanation of your diagnosis. This is also the perfect time to ask any final questions you may have.
Within 48 hours after your visit, you will receive a call with the results from any tests that were sent out the day of your visit. We will also follow up to check to see how you are feeling.
Can I bring my sick child in for an exam?
When it comes to the health of your children, tomorrow is not good enough, especially when your child is not feeling well. Our clinics are dedicated to providing same-day access to our exceptional healthcare with extended hours and convenient locations. Our goal is to help your child feel better, sooner.
All of our clinics feature in-house labs and all clinics (excluding Cambridge and Port Byron) offer x-rays so you do not have to leave our clinic to get the care your child deserves. If you are seen at the Cambridge office and require an x-ray you will be given a pass to go directly to Hammond-Henry Hospital in Geneseo for your x-ray.
Once your child has been examined by a compassionate provider, he or she will promptly supply you with discharge instructions and any necessary prescriptions.
Common symptoms and illnesses treated at our clinics include:
- Influenza
- Bronchitis
- Asthma
- Infections (ear/eye/urinary tract/skin)
- Rashes
- Sore throat
- Headaches
- Colds
Additionally, treatment is available for minor accidents such as sprains, fractures, burns, cuts/lacerations, insect/animal bites, and sports injuries.
Can I get a physical?
No matter our stage in life, it seems like we always need physical exams. The walk-in care clinics provide a variety of cost-effective physicals with no appointment necessary. Just bring in the appropriate forms and we are happy to get you checked out and back to your life
What kind of lab work can you do?
When you are sick the last thing you want to do is travel around for testing. We are able to perform the most common tests at our clinics, but for scheduled bloodwork, you will need to visit Hammond-Henry Hospital Lab. Common tests offered at our walk-in clinics:
- Streptococci
- Influenza
- Mononucleosis
- Pregnancy
- Hemoglobin
- Glucose
- Urinalysis
- RSV
- Occult Blood
