Dr. Matthew Heberer, MD
Dr. Heberer attended the University of Illinois – Champaign, and Medical School at the University of Illinois – Peoria. Heberer and his wife Karyssa relocated back to the area after finishing his residency at the University of North Dakota. The couple has four children and spending time with his family is one of his favorite things to do, along with his interest in cowboy boots, firearms, and history. Dr. Heberer is originally from Kewanee.
Dr. Heberer specializes in the diagnosis - preoperative, operative, and postoperative management - and management of complications of surgical conditions in the following areas: alimentary tract, abdomen, breast, skin, and soft tissue; endocrine system; head and neck surgery; pediatric surgery; surgical critical care; surgical oncology; trauma and burns; and vascular surgery. He will provide surgical services in Geneseo and Kewanee.
Dr. JAMES SCHRIER, FACS, MD
Dr. James Schrier, FACS, General Surgeon, will begin seeing patients on November 14. Referrals are necessary to make an appointment, and referrals are currently being accepted by calling 309.944.1595. An open house has been scheduled for Monday, November 11 from 2 to 4 pm in the hospital dining room for those interested in meeting Dr. Schrier.
A Board-certified surgeon, Dr. Schrier performs the following general surgeries: appendectomies, bowel obstructions/resections, breast cancer care, colonoscopies, endoscopies, gall bladder removal, hemorrhoid surgeries, laparoscopic surgeries, port placements, skin cancer removal, and soft tissue mass removal.
Dr. Schrier attended the University of Iowa College of Liberal Arts, obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree, and continued his education at the University of Iowa College of Medicine for his Doctorate. He has completed residencies at the University of Iowa in general surgery and family practice. His surgical experience and interests include, but are not limited to, core general surgery, oncology, laparoscopic and advanced laparoscopic surgery, and robotic surgery with the DaVinci robot.
